Inspired by the dawning of a new day, Southeastern Roastery is shining a light on what it means to develop worldwide relationships while also supporting our local economy. We experience the strongest sunlight through the southeastern most window, and this is the light that Candy Schibli and her team bring to our local coffee industry!
The company began in 2016, but the inspiration began much earlier in Southeastern Virginia, alongside Candy’s Great Grandmother. Just like the love of a grandmother, Southeastern Roastery strives to provide a sense of nurturing and appreciation for the world in each cup brewed, highlighting the level of care required for each step of the process, from planting a seed to drinking your coffee.
They roast their beans mindfully, using all 5 senses to bring them to the edge of their sweetness without creating too much of a burn-like flavor. This helps retain the internal juices and natural flavors of the plant! They focus their efforts on ethical sourcing, and partner with other locals to bring us organic, fair-trade beans from places like Colombia, Ethiopia, and Papua New Guinea.
Candy grew up in Northern, VA and now operates out of Baltimore, MD. She and her crew love being able to give back to their local community in their own way! You can find their beans on our shelves and other great locations in our area. Be sure to keep a look out for them while you shop the DMV!
